The Elite is our in house specialty knee brace. For multiple ligamentous knee injuries, especially ACL injuries and medial/lateral instability, the Elite offers superior comfort and control. Custom made for every individual, the Elite is a frame design, constructed of light weight carbon graphite fibre and titanium knee joints. Its unique design and sturdy construction effectively control the unstable knee by providing support in all 3 planes of motion. The Elite is manufactured locally at our Lethbridge facility by our experienced technicians, allowing for quick turn around time and convenient maintenance.
The Elite is made from a 3 dimensional computerized digital image of each individual's knee. Using state of the art Tracer CAD technology, our Orthotists are able to create an exact digital replication of the knee. The brace itself is then fabricated directly to this image giving the Elite unsurpassed support and an intimately precise fit.
One of the defining features of the Elite Knee Brace is the patented Townsend knee joint, which sports medicine professionals generally regard as the closest replication of the true anatomical motion of the knee.
The joint is constructed of titanium giving it the strength of steel and the weight of aluminum. The unique biomechanical design more closely replicates the natural motion of the knee than any of our competitor's products. The joints’ roll and glide motion matches the arthrokinematics of a normal knee, allowing the orthotic joint to act as an external guide to maintain the normal anterior/posterior positional relationship of the femur and tibia through the entire range of motion. This joints’ design acts synergistically with other exclusive product features to prevent pistoning, rotation and migration. As a result, patients utilizing the Elite consistently achieve exceptional outcomes.
The anterior tibial lock built into the frame of the Elite is created by our Orthotists during the digitizing and brace fabrication process. The tibial lock is contoured to capture the anterior aspect of the tibia for enhanced rotation control. This exclusive anti-rotation feature prevents rotation on the tibia on the femur, while also preventing brace from rotating around the leg.
The Elite’s specialized Calf Suspension Strap acts in concert with hinge motion and the tibial lock to prevent brace migration. The strap is strategically attached to above the calf muscle, effectively suspending the brace on the leg preventing slippage. The strap locks the lower frame onto the tibia with anterior-posterior force vectors for a snug and comfortable fit.
Together the anatomically precise titanium joints, the carbon graphite frame design with anterior tibial lock, calf suspension strap provide even the most active and demanding knee light-weight security and control.
